2017 Deer Contest Teams and Entry Photos
......................
This is a Team Contest
Each team consists of three members who's names were drawn after midnight Sept 22.
Anyone entering after midnight Sept 22 will be placed on any unfilled 3 member team or added to start a new team.
If you sign up after a sign-up period deadline listed below for any category or categories, you cannot enter a deer in that or those particular categories..... For example, if you sign up after the archery sign up deadline but before the muzzleloader sign up deadline you can only enter a deer you harvest with a muzzleloader and/or modern gun during those public season dates, but cannot enter any deer you harvest with archery.
Sign Up Deadlines:
Archery -- Midnight September 22
Muzzleloader -- Midnight October 20
Modern Gun -- Midnight November 10
Contest runs from September 23 through December 31, 2017
RULES
1. There is a 4 deer limit.
2. Deer must be legally harvested in Arkansas in the 2017 fall/winter season.
3. A team's final score will be the combined scores of all members of the team.
4. Each contestant has ten (10) days to enter a deer after the date of harvest. Or if you harvest a deer with less than 10 days left in the contest the deer must be entered no later than midnight December 31.
5. Each doe or button buck scores 5 points.
6. An antlered deer scores 1 point per each point that's at least 1 inches long plus the inside spread rounded off to the nearest 1/8th. So measure the inside spread at the widest point, round it off to the nearest 1/8, then add that number to the total number of points at least one inches long to get your deer's total score.
7. Once a deer is entered it can not be replaced with a different deer.
8. You only have to sign up one time and you're signed up for all categories that have not passed their sign up deadline dates.
9. If you sign up after a sign-up period deadline for any category or categories, you cannot enter a deer in that or those particular categories..... For example, if you sign up after the bow sign up deadline but before the muzzleloader sign up deadline you can only enter a deer you harvest with a muzzleloader and/or modern gun during those public season dates, but cannot enter any deer you harvest with a bow.
10. The following info must be posted within ten (10 ) days after harvesting your deer, or if you harvest a deer with less than 10 days left in the contest the info must be posted no later than midnight Dec 31:
a. Your team number.
b. Date of harvest.
c. Weapon Used
d. Total number of points at least one (1) inch long
e. Inside spread measurement, rounded off to nearest 1/8
f. Your deer's total score
g. A photo or photos that shows : (1) You with the deer with the head, and antlers if any, still attached to the deers carcass (2) Shows all antler points. (3) A picture that shows the antler spread but a picture showing the measurement is not required.
The Forum doesn't recommend anyone posting photos of tags that plainly shows personal information. (If you are alone: position yourself and the deer to meet contest rules then hold camera out at arms length and snap several photos at different angles).
Here's an example entry: Team 1 Oct 1 Bow 8 points 16 inch inside spread 24 total points (photo)
9. One team member being disqualified will not disqualify the whole team.
Team Scores Thunder Gobble will maintain a separate 2017 Deer Contest Team Scores thread and keep a running score for each team throughout the contest.
WINNERS
1. The winning team members will receive a special tag under their Forum names.
2. The contestant or contestants who enters the highest scoring deer taken with a bow, muzzleloader, and modern gun will receive a special tag under their Forum name.
3. The contestant who enters the lowest scored deer will be the winner of the "Tiniest Tines Award" and receive a "special" tag under their Forum name...
4. Any and all ties will be decided in favor of the earliest entries in the 2016 Deer Contest Teams and Entry Photos thread.
Contest Prize Donations Are Welcome
Contest Judges: Thunder Gobble and SW Bowhunter
The contest judges have the final say in all issues relating to the contest including deciding the winners. Their decisions will be final and not open to debate on the board. So if you wanna rip 'em about something you'll have to send them a PM. They also can ask contestants for extra photos or other material to further clarify or validate an entry and any contestant who refuses to follow this or any other directive of the Judges in their effort to administer the contest will be disqualified. Judges can also disqualify contestants for just plain ole bad sportsmanship and perform any other tasks they deem necessary including tweaking the rules in order for them to administer the contest in funnest yet fairest way they can.
Remember....... This contest is just for fun. So don't anybody take it too seriously so we can keep it fun. And one way we can do that is for all of us to understand that rules should never be interpreted any differently than written and if there are rules anyone doesn't understand and/or has questions about now is the time to ask for answers.
