I was of the belief that had been known for some time or maybe just that they persist in the soil.

Yes, I have been hearing about it in the soil for along while. This was the first I'd heard about it in the water, but that makes me wonder how good their testing is and are there other folded proteins out there we are not aware of ?

I have wondered about the same thing in another way. If they can't be destroyed, last forever more or less and prion diseases have been around in sheep and humans for hundreds or thousands of years why are we not ankle deep in prions in some form? I am coming to wonder if a lot we are told about prions is not so much as proven facts but just current beliefs. I believe the knowledge of these diseases is very sketchy and a lot of what we are told as fact may not be so.
