Good article grubbsi... Thanks..

Not much, if anything, in the article I didn't already believe after reading the available data I've read. But these guys pretty well covered what they covered in laymen's terms makin' it even easier for me to understand....

Pretty much covered the same ground as always. The longer this goes on the more questions I have about certain aspects of CWD. IMO the experts are reluctant to consider other possibilities about transmission and cause as in the hypothesis from the Doctor at LSU. Also I do not think now that prions just suddenly materialized or started occurring. Some causative agent had to start this escalation in the 60's.

What I still don't understand is this: if CWD is as bad as the experts fear, then why hasn't it wiped out a deer or elk herd somewhere? I don't even know of any areas that have it that it has even lowered the numbers of animals enough to be noticeable. Wisconsin tried to wipe out the deer herd in several infected counties, but from what I read there are as many or more deer there now as before it all started. North Dakota found it years ago and said the heck with it, we ain't doing anything and their rate of infection is lower than most states that have spent millions on stopping it.

I'm still leaning towards the theory of there are two kinds of places with CWD, them that test and know they have it and those that don't test and don't know they have it. I also think it's been around for ever and no one knew about it because no one tested for it.

You are right about those that test and those that don't. :yep: Like you I am thinking since there is not much that we now know can be done about it if there is a driving urge to spend millions spend it on research done with open minds and no pre-conceived notions about the disease. Perhaps there can be some hope that the root cause of prion development can be discovered and control by that means.
What is presently happening here in Arkansas is really telling us nothing new and lots of money and time is going down the drain.
