:smack: For a long time I have had knee problems. Now it is happening again. Back during ML season I was dragging a doe out and the next day my knee was sore but that is not that unusual for me except I could feel something moving around. Last Saturday after walking my morning route when coming up the front steps something happened and for two days the worst knee pain I have ever had. Could barely walk. Monday I went to the orthopedic surgeon and after Xrays and exam the news was about as expected. Sometime in the next 10 days to 2 weeks looks like knee surgery #4. One heck of a Christmas present. At least it happened after I was done buck hunting. This is almost getting to be a routine for me or at least it seems that way. :censored:

I hate it for you twodog but like you said at least it's happenin' after you're done buck huntin'for the season... But 4 is a lot of surgeries on something as small as a knee. So have you ever considered havin' a knee replacement as a way to put an end to the pain and all the surgeries?

Well yes I have but doing so is no guarantee of no pain and the replacements have a relatively short life span. The more active you are the shorter they last. This will make the second surgery on the left knee and already have two on the right. Having spent a considerable time in physical therapy facilities in the last 15 years I know from talking to knee replacement people that how they turn out has no guarantees against problems.

Also it is all about the space in the joint. My knees still have correct spacing just lots of damage from old injuries, and osteoarthritis which is hard on cartilage. So I am sort of stuck.

Maybe they can trim it up for ya. My dad had knee replaced at 82 five years ago and walks five miles a day on a track. The treadmill wore his natural knee out doc told him walk around for real not on a treadmill. I don't know what the difference would be. Good luck with it.

Having the knee scoped Wednesday. I won't know how long I will be out of action until it is over. Could be anything from a few days to a month.

Why the scope? I thought that's what the MRI was for...

Scoping is when they make 2-3 small incisions and go in with a optical instrument and clean up the damage. Not like the old days where they sliced you open. Quicker recovery

Oh OK. Microscopic Surgery. That's not somethin' I'm big on. I'd rather they bust me open like a watermellon where they can see to fix me the first time instead of havin' to go back in because they left a little trash behind they didn't see with the scope, somethin' I've learned can definitely happen with microscope surgery. In fact, my doc says he could have left a little trash behind in my one and only microscopic back surgery a couple of years ago which could be the cause of my continuing back problem today. But yet he won't go back in and clean it up because it's not showin' up on an MRI... :th_smilie_help.gif: But if he had busted me open he could have scraped me out with a soup spoon and I'd be almost as good as new today sittin' in a deer stand somewhere instead of sittin' here bangin' on this keyboard... :yep:

It went fairly good. I was home by 1:30 but was and still am sort of doped up. I had quite a bit of damage. Some cartilage problems and lots of arthritis but worst of all bone on bone. I will be on crutches a month :sob: .

I think for joint troubles the scoping is the way to go. Big incisions create scar tissue problems and long time healing. I my age I have enough scars tissue and can't spare the healing time :happy0035:

Anyway no anesthesia nausea this time and all in all feel good and have not taken any pain meds yet.
