Post #1  Post subject: 2016-17 CWD testing to be available to hunters statewide

Some of Arkansas' veterinarians have expressed an interest in submitting chronic wasting disease samples for hunters throughout the state. All results will be shared with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission but it is the responsibility of the hunter to pay any fees associated with using these veterinarians to process samples.

The deer’s head and at least 6 to 8 inches of its neck are required to get a proper sample for testing.

The AGFC will be testing hunter-harvested deer taken from the CWD Management Zone (Boone, Carroll, Johnson, Logan, Madison, Marion, Newton, Pope, Searcy and Yell counties) on a voluntary basis during opening weekend of deer season (Nov. 12-13).

The testing locations where you can take your deer opening weekend in the CWD Management Zone are listed here on the Forum at the link below:

According to Cory Gray, AGFC deer program coordinator, the AGFC’s deer team developed the list of vets to offer hunters outside of those counties or those who harvest deer outside of opening weekend the opportunity to test their deer if they wished.

The list of veterinarians around the state who will be offering CWD testing can be found at the G&F link below.

I'm sure G&F will keep this list updated whenever warranted, but for discussion sake this is the current list on their website this date of vets offering CWD testing.

THE LIST BELOW IS OUT OF DATE:

Be handy in Damascus, the vet clinic listed here is right next door to the taxidermy shop.

Can't dial up an address and ask for prices and instructions so includin' the vet's phone numbers would have been handy too. There's one listed in Danville that I've as yet been unable to find a phone number for...
