What's going on fellas. I just moved to the great state of Arkansas from Mississippi. Please don't hate on my Bulldogs though :happy0035: . I'm trying really hard to become a Razorback fan. Can someone point me in the right direction for a good place to wade fish? I've always wanted to catch some trout, and saw where there are some places along the Little Red River about an hour and a half away from where I live, but I would like to find a place closer where I can go when the fever hits. Other than that, I can't really find any place good. I just want to take my waders, pole, and tackle and catch whatever is biting. Does anyone know where I can do that? P.S. I live in the Bryant area.

I'm just a couple exits down from you towards Little Rock. Your actually closer than me to the fishing hole. Check out Carpenter Dam, Down 30 to 270 to 128 Carpenter Dam Road. Take a look on Google maps. Check out the report here:

http://www.agfc.com/fishing/Pages/FishingReports.aspx

Carpenter Dam fishing report is under Lake Catherine, really nice down there, I'm going Monday morning when I get off work. The trout and the bass are biting pretty good. White, striped and hybred. Lots of drum in the river right now too :yep: Welcome aboard.

Off of 270 on your way is also Remmel Dam, worth looking at on your way to Carpenter, they are not real far from you. Bryant exit on 30 is at mile marker 123, hiway 270 on your way south at Mile Marker 98 then a short little drive down 270.

:th_yeah: Thanks Hip.... Hopefully the rain will hold out today long enough for me to go out there . I looked at it from Google Earth and it looks like it is shallow enough to wade which is what I like. I had never heard of the tagged fish deal. Bout to check it out, and I won't forget about you Hip when I snag one

I took a trip down there, don't bother, way too much water passing through. So much so I bet the bass spawn is kaput, wait till next year. Once the flow settles down there will be some trout, those that could hide out of the flow and those that will return upstream but it will take a few days after they close some gates. But its a wash out right now.

Just signed up. New to this forum and new to the Hot Spring Village area. Not new to Arkansas. Use to live in Camden. Graduated from SAU in Magnolia and took a job that sent me around all over. That was in 1980. Retired now and chose to do so in HSV. Hope to find a good deer camp nearby. Been here only a month and have not had much time to look around with the move and all. Glad I stumbled upon this forum, looks like my kind of folks. Jmax

Hello all. My husband and I moved to AR this spring. We are both rabid......er....avid squirrel hunters. I also love to hunt turkey and deer. We've already tested some of the squirrel hunting places; the Sylamore, Bayou De View, and White River WMA. By the way, the White River WMA was CRAZY last weekend! I was hemmed in by other hunters. However, I did manage to get 6 squirrels.

I'm hoping that you guys can help guide me through this years hunting season.

Good hunting!

PI

Thanks for the replies and advice. The guys I used to hunt with have been on me to hunt with them again. It is a little further then I wanted to travel every time I went but Thornton is not too awfully far. About an hour and 45 minutes for me. With that said and due to the season being right here on us I told them I would. I still would not mind a close place near Hot Springs Village to run to when time is an issue. So if any of you who told me you would keep me in mind, get an opening, please do keep me in mind. Keep your powder dry, Jmax.
