Have not heard any here in the Ozarks yet but it won't be long. Saw a flock of 8-10 gobblers last week. Still bunched up so the real festivities are still a little ways off. Not many birds here this year but with all the acorns the few we have should gobble some..... I hope :yep:

Yeah it's most likely the kind of "water" I've been giving it... :happy0035:

I have been in the hills the last two mornings and have heard nothing. I saw 4 jakes yesterday and 40-50 deer but that's it.

Heard 2 this morning. We had a very light drizzling rain going and I was out on the back porch drinking coffee when an owl started up. 2 thunder gobblers answered the owl. Sounded like they were roosted close to one another. Didn't gobble long only about 10 mins then shut up...Great way to start the day!!

I still am at zero. Maybe they are saving it up until the 9th and then surrender. :poundfloor:

Finally heard the springs first gobbling. Went to the NF this morning. It was COLD. Twenty nine according to the truck thermometer. A little wind too. I heard two for certain and possibly a third. One gobbled a lot the others not much.

My turkey hunting buddy and I made a big round through our usual places yesterday morning. We did not hear a single gobble. Saw some scratching and lots of deer but the turkeys took the morning off. It was warm but cloudy and windy.

I have not heard a gobble in like 10 days and I have been out a bunch. I have been seeing single hens acting like they are nesting. I also have seen as many as 4 gobblers together. Around here it is definitely not what I would call a normal year. I am hoping for the best but at least at the start not expecting much. It will be COLD in the Ozarks Monday morning.

I went this morning, and had three respond with gobbles. A trespasser got between us and the birds. We set up on all of them and saw the last one leave like his tail was on fire! Clark county north of Gurdon. They would gobble to yelps, but were not real responsive. Hunted till 9:30.

I heard three but they started late almost 8. I got on one of the three and he came in but hung up out of sight and I stayed on him for 4 hours and left him still gobbling a little. As far as I could tell he was not henned up. Two friends killed birds in way off spots from where I was.
I have had worse morning but also better.

I heard 5 today and could not really get on any of them. Had several hunters close by, public land, and it just did not happen

Well the weather up here the last couple days has been awful. Thirty mph wind or more and cold. Actually snowed on me yesterday. I missed the nest days last week due to a more pressing need. Fortieth anniversary. :happy093: Now my knees are not doing well. Putting a real damper on my ability to push around the mountains. In there pitching though again this morning

Asked a buddy here at work if he had gotten a bird yet, he said I've gotten five so far :surp: Five I said I thought limit was one a day two for the season he told me he's been going out of state also :happy0035: His goal this year is 15 birds, im thinking the way turkey seasons are going recently that is kind of greedy. I looked up LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE they have the season two bird limit like us so I don't know where he's going, or maybe he was just pulling my leg. I do know he spent the past year trapping coons, eliminating preditors and creating habitat for birds on his own land and got his two here in the first two days of the season.

It was COLD in south Newton County this morning. Twenty six when we left the truck. Water puddles were frozen, the ground frost heaved and the dripping shelf rocks solid icicles. No wind and very little gobbling. Sure hope it picks up the next couple days.
