This was a poorly officiated game.... I have to admit I'm not a big New England fan, but the Steelers got robbed....pardon the pun.... Then here comes the Dallas Oakland game and the refs took it over.... with all this challenge stuff, it's ruining the flow of the game!!! These games were too important to allow for such poor judgement of the refs. The most outrageous thing was when the ref pulls out an index card and called First Down when he determined the card touched the ball and the first down pole...It was just wrong!!! That no more determined a first down than the ref stepping it off....   At least get a wooden ruler and run it up and down the pole....anything but a paper index card... I would have respected the call more if the refs had just eyeballed it and agreed yes or no (old school style).

No I didn't see the New England/Pittsburg game yesterday. Nothing personal Coindude but I don't watch or support that organization anymore since it's become so left wing and disrespectful to our country.

But I did see a replay on the news last night of the touchdown pass the refs called back that would have given Pittsburg the win. And according to NFL rules it was definitely an incomplete pass because the replay clearly showed when he went down the ball touched the ground without him having complete control of it. If he had caught it and ran it across the goal line then lost control of it it would have been a touchdown because the ball crossed the plane of the goal line before he lost control. But the NFL has different rules for running touchdowns and touchdowns by receptions.

Here's the NFL's catch rule:

"In order to complete a catch, a receiver must clearly become a runner. He does that by gaining control of the ball, touching both feet down and then, after the second foot is down, having the ball long enough to clearly become a runner, which is defined as the ability to ward off or protect himself from impending contact. If, before becoming a runner, a receiver falls to the ground in an attempt to make a catch, he must maintain control of the ball after contacting the ground. If he loses control of the ball after contacting the ground and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. Reaching the ball out before becoming a runner will not trump the requirement to hold onto the ball when you land. When you are attempting to complete a catch, you must put the ball away or protect the ball so it does not come loose".

I didn't see a replay of the first down call, and although I was a diehard Dallas fan before the protests I didn't see that game either.
